What represented the underlying cause of the various wars for colonial empire in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries? How do land companies like the Ohio Company of Virginia reflect the expansion of capitalism in North America? What specific connections can you draw between the expansion of capitalism and the different wars for colonial empire? Explain who were the “Black Boys” and what made them such a problem for the British officials in America? What does Patrick Spero’s book reveal about the complicated relationships that existed between Native Americans and the leaders and settlers of the Anglo-European colonies? Read the concluding chapter of Frontier Rebels, “Legacies,”(pp. 197-205)and describe how the Black Boys are remembered. How is their strong stand against British imperial authority primarily remembered today?
